Ill for the past six weeks, Carl Frederick Beck, age 61, bailiff for 12 years in Judge Henry F. Scarett’s court and formerly for many years in the drug business in Columbus, died at his home, 1320 South High street, shortly before noon Friday, of coronary occlusion.

Born in Columbus and a lifetime resident here, Mr. Beck served his apprenticeship in the old Eagle Drug store at Rich and High streets, and later for 32 years operated his own business at the corner of Fulton and High streets under the name of the Beck Drug Co. He was a thirty-second degree Mason and was the first Mason raised in the Masonic temple. He belonged to Humboldt lodge, Scottish Rite, Aladdin Temple of the Shrine, Ohio chapter, Mt. Vernon Commandery, Knights Templar, and a charter member of the Shrine Patrol. He also was a member of St. John’s Evangelical and Reformed church.

Surviving him are: His wife, Katrina Beck, two sons, Melvin and Howard Beck; two grandchildren; a brother, Allen F. Beck, president-general manager of the Clark Grave Vault Co., and a sister, Mrs. Bertha Louis Boeshans, Columbus. Funeral arrangements are in charge of Denton
