Chairman of Board of Ohio Finance Company Succumbs in Hospital

Joseph H. Dyer, aged 68, chairman of the board of the Ohio Finance Co., 43 West Long street, and former prosecuting attorney of Franklin county, died Thursday afternoon, in Miami Beach, Fla.

Mr. Dyer had been in the hospital since December because of a broken hip suffered when he fell at his home. He had resided in Miami Beach for three years, having gone there because of his health. He organized the Ohio Finance Co. 25 years ago, and officiated as president until 1930, when he became chairman of the board.

Attended University

In 1894, Mr. Dyer was elected prosecuting attorney of Franklin county and served two terms.
He was formerly president of the Ohio Association of Personal Finance Companies and the National Association of Personal Finance Companies. He also was vice president of the City Finance Co. of Miami, Fla. He attended Ohio State university, where he was a member of Chi Phi fraternity and graduated from Boston Law school in 1890.

Body to Arrive Sunday

Mr. Dyer was a member of the First Congregational church and the West Jefferson lodge, F. and A.M.
Surviving him are his wife, Mrs. Nellie Peters Dyer; a son, David W. Dyer; two daughters, Mrs. H. A. Riviere and Mrs. S. J. Sutton, all of Miami Beach; a sister, Mrs. Will H. McGrew of Columbus, and two brothers, Inspector O. H. Dyer of the police department and W. A. Dyer of Georgesville. Mr. Dyer’s body will be brought to Columbus Sunday. Burial will be in Green Lawn Abbey.
