TWO DEAD, TWO MISSING IN ACTION, CASUALTY REPORT REVEALS
The death of two Columbus boys, one with the Navy in the Southwest Pacific, and the other in the Marianas, and the listing of two missing in action, were included in casualty reports Wednesday by the War and Navy Departments.
. . . Pvt. Richard H. Hill, 21, a Marine Raider, who participated in the invasion of the Marshall Islands and Saipan, has been killed in action, according to word received by his mother, Mrs. Ralph D. Hill, 2343 E. Livingston Av. Pvt. Hill was a graduate of Bexley High School, Baylor Military Academy and has attended Miami University. He enlisted in May, 1943, trained at Parris Island, N. C., and participated in the conquest of the Marshalls. Although the place of his death was not listed by the Navy, he was known to have taken part in the invasion of Saipan Island in the Marianas group. Besides his mother, a sister, Mrs. James Malcolm Mooney, 312 Mimring Rd., survives . . . .
