--Prominent Business Man Resident of City 50 Years, Succumbs.--
Mr. Swisher former prominent business man, died early Friday in Grant hospital. Funeral services will be held Monday.
Edward W. Swisher, aged 79, of 603 East Town street, for many years a prominent business man of Columbus, died, early Friday, in Grant hospital, where a week ago he submitted to an operation for a kidney ailment.
He was a native of Newark, Ohio, but had been a resident of Columbus about 50 years and for 25 years was president of the Driving Park association, and was a director and vice president of the Citizen bank until a few years ago.
He also was vice president of the Grand circuit races at the old Driving park for years, and a member of the Columbus sinking fund.
Mr. Swisher owned the Swisher Cigar Manufacturing business on West Broad street and had a similar business in Newark.
He had been retired for a number of years. Three brothers and a sister survive him. They are: Rollin, also of the Town street address, Harry of Newark and John H. Swisher of Jacksonville, Fla., and Mrs. Alfred McClatchey of Newark.
Rev. Frank H. Throop, of Central Presbyterian church, will officiate at funeral services to be held at the Jones Funeral Memorial, 812 East Broad street, Monday at 2 p.m.
The body will be at the mortuary until the funeral, after which it will be placed in Green Lawn Abbey.
Mr. Swisher was a member of Newark Lodge No. 97, F. and A. M., and of Columbus Lodge of Elks.
